DeSantis says he wants to attack the source of the
immigration problem -

Our view is you have to deal with it at the source

 https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/10/08/ron-desantis-migrant-flights-marthas-vineyard/

So instead of arguing about raiding each other,

 https://news.yahoo.com/desantis-creates-rift-abbott-marthas-165936316.html

let DeSantis and Abbott redeploy their election fraud
cops, who are mostly sitting around doing crosswords,
hoping somebody will report a crime they can investigate,
and instead put them on immigration fraud - and go right
to the source of the problem!

Let Florida and Texas jackbooted immigration fraud thugs
visit other states and arrest any EMPLOYER with employees
not legally entitled to work, and put them in some of those
Texas and Florida private jails. No doubt governors of
those other states would be delighted!

They could confiscate the profits those employers made
from illegal labor and use those to improve conditions in
the countries that migrants leave. That would also attack
the source of the problem. But it would be better Trumpism
to put those profits into tax refunds for megadonors.

It would have been easy enough for those employers to
comply with the law - but many don't bother, same as Trump
didn't bother - until he was caught by the media -

 https://www.foxnews.com/us/dozen-undocumented-workers-were-fired-from-trump-golf-club-in-new-york-report

All those employers would have to do is require employees
to be registered voters in their state - THAT would be
hard to fake. Especially in Florida or Texas!

No employers, no jobs, no better life to migrate to.
No more migrants!

Of course, no more megadonors for DeSantis and Abbott,
so no more presidential ambitions. But they can be
proud to be remembered as finally choosing to do what they
thought was best for the country instead of what was best
for their political careers.

And it won't hurt them to build their own houses, grow
their own food, mow their own lawns, wash their own dishes
and clean their own bathrooms at home and on the road,
just like everybody else will have to do.

People who can't do all those things for themselves and
have to hire legal Americans to do it will suffer insane
inflation in the minimum wage. But that's OK, DeSantis
and Abbott will just blame Biden as always.

unauthorized immigrants provide cheap labor and pay an
estimated $11.64 billion in state and local taxes every
year and don't get much in return.

Of course, it's just barely possible that DeSantis and
Abbott agree with all those megadonors that immigration
is not a problem but an opportunity for endless political
stunts, that disappears if they really do anything about
the problem - like comprehensive immigration reform.
Never waste a good source of political stunts! And maybe
THAT's the real source of the problem .

 https://immigration.usattorneys.com/immigration-reform-a-history-of-political-failure

Better to keep it illegal and dangerous, but still
possible, to maintain a steady supply of cheap exploitable
labor for their megadonors.

No solution in sight for immigration.

Forcing employers to check employees as carefully as
registrars check voters would greatly reduce the problem.
But GOP candidates need to keep immigration a live
issue for campaigning, and GOP megadonors need to keep
a steady supply of cheap exploitable labor. So they
keep immigration unsafe and illegal, but still possible.
There are still more jobs available than workers willing
to take them.

They consider Democrats to be Communists, and that's a
high crime or misdemeanor.

No comprehensive immigration reform likely - it's too
useful an issue for Trumpists. Their voters can be
convinced that immigrants are criminals, and their donors
can be assured that a GOP Congress will keep immigration
dangerous and illegal, so illegal workers will remain
compliant and exploitable.
